During the past six months we have supported Spinney Avenue C of E School in revitalising their school garden. A combined effort of parents, teachers, families of pupils and volunteers from our Society, worked one morning during the October half term to clear the garden of its weeds and rubbish. The result has been very encouraging, and we have now over the past weeks been able to help with the planting of a variety of vegetables. There are plans to sow wild flower seeds, and with the help of pupils encourage insects and bees to populate the garden. Through one of our members, Whitegate Daffodil Farm, Cheshire made a very generous donation of daffodil bulbs, which the School Council planted around the school, and we now begin to see their welcome display of colour. We are intending to continue to support the School and encourage the pupils to take an interest in growing over the coming months. Volunteers from our Society members are welcome to join us.
